Ellis release date, cast and episodes ahead of chilling detective drama

Ellis will be making its big debut this week on the small screen but exactly when will the drama be ready to watch?

The Channel 5 series will see two detectives allocated cases that appear to be at a dead end with their jobs to do the seemingly impossible and crack it.

With viewers awaiting to find out what the new detective show has in store for them, here’s everything there is to know about Ellis.

Ellis release date

The countdown begins as Ellis is to premiere this week on Halloween night, Thursday, October 31, at 9pm on Channel 5.

The show is also going to be available via the streaming service Acorn TV from Monday, November 4.

Starring as the titular DCI Ellis, described as both a “compassionate and determined” police officer, is played by actress Sharon D Clarke.

She will be recognised for starring as Lola Griffin in Holby City from 2003 to 2019, as well as most recently in the drama Mr Loverman.

Some of her other work has been in , Showtrial, Red, White And Royal Blue, as well as Rocketman.

Clarke is joined by actor Andrew Gower who is to be her right-hand man as DS Harper.

He was behind Prince Charles Edward Stuart in Outlander and Nick Cutler in Being Human.

Other cast members include Charley Webb as Abbie Summerfield, Josh Bolt as DI Archie Dent and Wayne Foskett as Michael Edwards.

Ellis season one is going to consist of just three episodes in total, with each a running length of about 90 minutes.

Episodes will be released weekly on Channel 5 at the same time with the finale due to air on Thursday, November 14.

But what “impossible” cases will the detectives be given and how are they going to go about solving them?

Ellis premieres on Thursday, October 31, at 9pm on Channel 5.
