Inside the life of Outer Banks Season 4 star Madelyn Cline - from modelling to dating co-star

Netflix has captivated viewers for four years with a thrilling coming-of-age quest, and now it has landed back on screens for Season 4.

Outer Banks follows a group of teenagers dubbed the Pogues, who are rallied together by ringleader John B to discover what happened to his missing father. On this mission, they find treasure linked to John B's father, kicking off an adventurous four-season run.

The drama centres on a tight-knit group portrayed by Hollywood's glittering young actors, including Chase Stokes as John B; Drew Starkey as Rafe Cameron; Madison Bailey as Kiara Carrera; Jonathan Daviss as Pope Heyward; Rudy Pankow as JJ Maybank; and Madelyn Cline as Sarah Cameron.

Sarah is a well-off teen who swaps her privileged lifestyle as a ‘Kook’ for adventures with the working-class Pogues. The character has divided viewers throughout the series. However, the actress has been widely favoured by fans. So, who is the actress behind Sarah Cameron?

Madelyn's early life and modelling career

Born and raised in South Carolina by parents estate agent Pam and engineer Mark, Madelyn started her career as a child model. While signed to a local modelling agency, Millie Lewis Models & Talent, she appeared in various TV and magazine ads. She started appearing in short films as a teenager before breaking into feature-length films in the 2016 comedy, Savannah Sunrise.

Madelyn has opened up about struggling with an eating disorder throughout her teens. Speaking to Women's Health in 2020, she admitted: "When I was younger I did struggle with eating disorders, specifically when I was a teenager. I think I was around 16 when I started working out a lot."

She continued: "I would wake up every morning at 5am and I would work out for 30 minutes. It was super rigorous cardio every day." She then explained that she restricted her eating, cutting down to only six almonds for breakfast.

What films has she appeared in?

Madelyn acted in a number of minor roles before Outer Banks. In 2018, she featured in the biographical drama Boy Erased alongside acclaimed actors Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe. She also made appearances on CW's vampire drama The Originals, HBO's dark comedy Vice Principals, and Stranger Things Season 2.

After gaining recognition for her role in Outer Banks, she appeared in the star-studded whodunit, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. She is also poised to star in the fourth instalment of the I Know What You Did Last Summer slasher franchise.

Is she dating anyone?

Madelyn publicly dated her Outer Banks co-star Chase Stokes between the summer of 2020 and the autumn of 2021. After the pair announced their breakup, she shared that the experience taught her how much she values privacy.

She has since dated singer-songwriter Jackson Guthy and comedian Pete Davidson, but is not currently dating anyone.

Outer Banks Season 4 part 1 is available to stream now on Netflix. The second instalment of the season will air on November 7.
