Chelsea are through to the semi-final of the FIFA Club World Cup after beating Palmeiras 2-1 in Philadelphia.
The Blues will take on more Brazilian opposition next Tuesday with Fluminense standing in their way of a place in the final. It was Cole Palmer who got Chelsea under way on 16 minutes at the Lincoln Financial Field with a vintage finish after a precise Trevoh Chalobah pass.
Chelsea controlled the first half but Palmeiras came out for the second period a completely different beast. Estevao Willian, joining the Blues after the tournament, levelled the match with a wonderful finish from a tight angle.
However, the west Londoners went back ahead late on. Malo Gusto's shot on 83 minutes was deflected into his own net by Agustin Giay. A freak goal, but Chelsea won't care one bit.
Onto New York the Blues go. Here are the player ratings from Chelsea's win against Palmeiras.
Robert Sanchez - 5
Nothing to do in the first half but was unable to stop Estevao's effort at the beginning of the second period. It beat him at his near post. Great finish, but should a goalkeeper be beaten there?
Malo Gusto - 6
It may well be an own goal but it feels harsh to take it away from Gusto. Even before what turned out to be the winning goal, the Frenchman did well in attacking areas.
Trevoh Chalobah - 7
Back in the XI after being named on the bench in Charlotte. Did exceptionally well for Palmer's goal. Slid the ball into his teammate with enough precision and power to make his job that little bit easier.
Levi Colwill - 7
Very assured on the ball as always. Had a fairly quiet game up against Vitor Roque of Palmeiras. Some excellent defending about 70 minutes in to prevent a really dangerous attack. Big blow, though, late on when he was booked meaning he will miss the semi-final.
Marc Cucurella - 6
The Spaniard had the task of marking soon-to-be Chelsea winger Estevao Willian. He was very aggressive on the Brazilian teenager. Thought he did well.
Andrey Santos - 7
A first competitive start for Santos. Reece James pulled out of the line-up at the last minute. Considering he had virtually no notice, he settled in seamlessly. A fantastic recovery challenge on Emiliano Martinez about an hour in to show Chelsea fans his defensive capabilities.
Enzo Fernandez - 7
Ticked the game along nicely and made those bursting runs into the channels like he always does. Did well to help set up the winning goal.
Pedro Neto - 7
A tough evening for Neto on an emotional level after the death of his friend Diogo Jota on Thursday. Started the game off with a brilliant piece of skill. Looked bright on the right wing.
Cole Palmer - 8
Was used on the left in Charlotte, but occupied a more central role in Philadelphia. It was in the pocket between the midfield and defence where he found himself for his goal. The first touch was superb and the rest of them were not bad either. Cool finish from Palmer.
Christopher Nkunku - 5
A bit surprised he got the nod in front of Noni Madueke, but that might tell you a bit more on what is happening in the summer transfer window. Nkunku missed a big chance on 34 minutes where the Frenchman just rushed his effort.
Liam Delap - 5
Kept his place as the No.9 ahead of the returning Nicolas Jackson. Excellent piece of hold-up play on seven minutes to bring the ball down from the sky on his chest and release it to Palmer. He did that well but let himself down a bit when he was booked for a silly foul just before half-time, meaning will be suspended for the semi-final.
Joao Pedro (on for Nkunku 54') - 7
On for his debut immediately after Palmeiras levelled the match. Joao Pedro was used as the No.9. Worked some space for himself not long after coming on but could not get a clean connection on his first shot as a Chelsea player. Considering he was on holiday a few days ago, he looked sharp.
Noni Madueke (on for Delap 54') - 5
Would have been frustrated not to start. Got into some dangerous areas but was a tad wasteful and lacked the killer touch.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (on for Neto 87') - N/A
Some energy to help see out the game.
Dario Essugo (on for Santos 90') - N/A
On for stoppage time.
