Liam Gallagher's home pool plans approved despite neighbour objections - but there's one issue

Oasis legend , who admittedly can't swim, is shelling out big bucks to install a swanky pool in his North London pad.

Despite just getting the green light on planning for a lavish leisure suite at his mansion, the singer confessed that he might need swimming lessons to make a splash in his own 24ft pool.

Spilling the beans on Celebrity alongside mum Peggy and son Gene, the rocker let slip that he's all at sea when it comes to swimming. "You are the only one out of us lot that can swim. Me, Noel and Paul can't swim," he told Peggy.

While son Gene chipped in to point out his water skills, saying: "You can swim. I've seen you. It's just that you can't get your head up. You just go underwater." He continued, sharing his aquatic challenges: "I can do half a width. I wish I could swim. I struggle when it goes deeper and that. That's when I start flapping around like some mad salmon, like a crazy salmon and I've got to go back. I struggle having a shower."

Water workouts clearly run in the family, with matriarch Peggy hitting the pool regularly and acing twenty widths. To which, the singer expressed his envy: "Good for you. That's grand. I'm jealous, man."

The £4 million Highgate home of the 51 year old musician will feature the anticipated pool, boosting security with walls and gates despite the neighbours trying to halt the project.

The Highgate Society voiced its displeasure over a rock icon's building proposal, fearing it could "create a most unfortunate precedent" and voiced concerns about potential "serious effects from any ground water diversion". Despite these objections, the star recently scored a victory as Haringey Council approved his application for a swimming pool installation.

Britpop legend Liam is now celebrating after being awarded planning permission to kickstart his grand garden endeavour, inclusive of a patio, pool plant, and an air source heat pump. The vocalist's proposed swimming pool, approximately 24ft by 12ft in size, will be decked out with a sophisticated covering system and will proudly display a "bullnosed edge" finish, complemented by "buff natural stone steps", details that were provided to the council in the plans.
