Mariah Carey issues Christmas update to fans - leaving them disappointed

Mariah Carey has issued an update to fans, confirming that she is "not ready" to make her annual comeback just yet.

Every December the queen of makes her return. remains one of the most popular festive songs of all time - and fans already cannot wait to play it. It has been reported that the singer makes millions from the song every year.

Last year, fans went wild as Mariah announced she was "defrosting". An iconic clip showed a timer on a freezer - and as soon as it Halloween was over, Mariah appeared. With her impressive high-pitched singing voice she sang: "It's time."

So naturally, Christmas lovers want to know when Maria will be coming out for the festive season. Maria took to social media to say that people had been asking and she said "to those asking...not yet".

In a funny clip, the icon can be seen chilling on a private jet while the intro to her Christmas song starts playing. An announcement on the plane states: "This is your captain speaking, welcome aboard Mariah.

"We are heading to the North Pole." She reacted and said: "Not yet, sorry. They always rush me."

Fans rushed to comment, as one said: "We're ready when you are sis." "Can't wait," added another. "Take your time Queen," said a third. "Please don't rush her," said another. "I'm so ready," said another fan.

However, some fans were left disappointed by Mariah's update - as they've been ready for a while. One said: "Not yet? But the Philippines is already ready." Another agreed, commenting: "Girl come on…. I'm ready," and a third added: "What you mean not yet! lol. I was covered in Christmas glitter today at work with putting Christmas decorations up and I don't like glitter, lol."

All I Want for Christmas Is You was released on October 29, 1994, and is played all over the every festive season. It was co-written by Mariah Carey and Walter Afanasieff as part of her first holiday album, Merry Christmas.

It's since become one of the most popular Christmas songs of all time, selling 16 million copies worldwide. In 2023 it was predicted that the song's royalty earnings had reached a whopping $100 (£76) million.
