Michael Schumacher's 'frail' condition as theory emerges on daughter's wedding appearance

A neurosurgeon has cast doubt on reports was seen at the wedding of his daughter Gina-Maria this month, claiming a bedridden patient would be too 'frail" to attend.

The Formula One legend's condition has been shrouded in mystery ever since his horror skiing accident in the French Alps in 2013, with the German requiring round-the-clock care.

The seven-time champion spent months in a medically induced coma and is understood to be based in their home, being cared by his wife Corinna - who has fought to keep his health a secret - only allowing a select few to visit him.

Schumacher's daughter Gina-Maria tied the knot with husband Ian Bethke in Majorca earlier this month and for the family event.

There were even reports from Bild that guests were asked to hand over their mobile phones at the event to prevent any photos being taken of Schumacher, now 55, and to respect his privacy - with the wedding photographer under instruction not to take pictures of the F1 icon.

However, neurosurgeon Jussi Posti believes it would be unlikely Schumacher could attend given his "frail" condition and the difficulties of transporting him to such an event.

“If a hospital has been built in his house, with everything medicalised around him, it seems that he has been in hospital most of the time," he told . "Based on the information available, I don't think he leads a very active life.

"Everything points to him being unwell. As bedridden patients, most people become so frail and stiff that it is no longer possible to get them out of bed after so many years."

Posti added that the lack of updates from Schumacher's camp suggested his condition had not changed for the last decade.

“Typically, patients recover what they can recover for up to two years, and then the level of recovery is usually set. Essentially, these types of patients are very experimental models at best."

Gina-Maria did share some photos of the lavish ceremony at the Puerto De Andratx villa in Majorca, with her husband Ian sharing a touching caption alongside their wedding snap: "Forever yes to you, yes to forever."
