For the past several days, it has been raining intermittently in many districts, including Prayagraj, Sitapur, Jalaun, Aligarh, Kanpur, and Lakhimpur Kheri. The Meteorological Department has also issued a heavy rain alert for these districts for the coming days. The situation in Prayagraj is such that the water of the Ganges has reached the homes of the people here. The neighborhoods were flooded with water up to several feet. Given this, the district administration has decided to close all schools here from August 5 to 7.
Decision to close schools due to rain
This order will apply to all schools from pre-primary to 12th class. Jalaun and Lakhimpur Kheri district administrations have also declared holidays for schools from pre-primary to 8th class on 5th and 6th August. This order will be valid for all government, aided, recognized, and private schools. In Aligarh, Sitapur, and Kanpur too, in view of heavy rains, it has been decided to close the schools on 5th August.

In Sitapur, all schools from class 1 to 8th will remain closed, while in Aligarh and Kanpur, all schools from nursery to 12th will remain closed for a day. In view of heavy rains and the flood situation, it has been decided to close all schools up to 12th in Varanasi on 5th and 6th August. Apart from this, it has been decided to close schools in Siddharthnagar, Lucknow, Ayodhya, Amethi, Rae Bareli, Mirzapur, Sambhal, Barabanki, Bhadohi, Bareilly, Moradabad, Ambedkar Nagar, Ghazipur, Banda, Chitrakoot, Etah, Rampur, Badaun, Bahraich, and Amroha.
Due to rain, students were facing a lot of problems in reaching school due to waterlogging, mud, and bad roads in many areas. Also, their safety was at risk. Given this, it has been decided to close the schools.
