Gmail: Now big interactive shopping ads will appear in Gmail, are you ready?

Send Push

If you are still happy that you don't see ads in Gmail, then your happiness is going to end soon. Gmail may soon start showing large and interactive ecommerce ads in its mobile application (both iOS and Android). Till now, Gmail's "Promotions" tab was used for ads, but according to a new report, now large and visually rich shopping ads are being tested in it.

What is special in the new ads?

According to the report, these new shopping ads will show users the product's photo, name, price, rating, and external link. When a user clicks on these ads, they will expand and show more information, such as: full listing of the product, discounts and offers, ratings and reviews, call-to-action (CTA) button for purchase, direct link to the store or website, etc.

Gmail could be the first Google app to launch native ecommerce ads.
Thomas Eccel (Google Ads Head at JvM Impact) has given a glimpse of this new ad format through a video posted on LinkedIn. In the video, it was seen that after a few emails in the Promotions tab, this ad appears in an attractive box shape. Initially, it looks like just an image ad, but when clicked on, it turns into a "shopping listing" in which two or more products appear together.

Use of product feed and Google Merchant Center
The information about the products appearing in these ads comes through the product feed taken from Google Merchant Center. That is, brands will upload the inventory of their store or website to Google, and Gmail will show them on its platform. If this testing is successful, then Google may plan to bring these interactive shopping ads to its other apps like YouTube, Google Maps, and Google Discover Feed in the future.
