Vaibhav Suryavanshi, only 14 years old, stunned everyone during the IPL 2025 match between Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans, scoring the fastest century of the season in just 35 balls. Suryavanshi showcased fearless strokeplay and fearless intent against a strong GT bowling line-up. His record-breaking knock instantly lit up social media and brought cricket legends to share their advice for the young star.

Dominating the powerplay from the start

Batting alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal for Rajasthan Royals, Suryavanshi wasted no time in taking on the GT bowlers. In the very first over of the innings, he lofted Mohammed Siraj straight over long-on for a maximum, signalling what was to come. Jaiswal too joined in with a six off Ishant Sharma in the following over. However, it was Suryavanshi's fourth-over attack against Sharma that truly tilted the game, collecting 28 runs in a single over, leaving GT desperate for a breakthrough.

Sehwag and Shastri urge patience

While the innings earned widespread applause, former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag offered a word of caution. Speaking about Suryavanshi’s rise, Sehwag earlier advised the young player not to lose focus amid the fame and excitement. Somewhat similar to Sehwag’s sentiments, ex-coach and commentator Ravi Shastri pointed out on The ICC Review that while Suryavanshi’s first shot left everyone amazed, managing failures would be key to his long-term success.

Social media celebrates the young star

Fans were quick to react online after Suryavanshi's historic innings. One user wrote, "If only Shubman Gill had thought of this, they wouldn't have faced Vaibhav Suryavanshi tonight."

Another user said, "Wow, Vaibhav Suryavanshi is exceptional. He is hitting the ball like anything. Fastest 50 this season. Simply outstanding."

A third user pointed out, "Yes, he got lucky with a couple of sixes, but boy, what an innings. Fearless and an attacking approach from the 14-year-old." Another fan celebrated his roots saying, "Jiya ho Bihar ke lala... Jiya tu hazar saal... VAIBHAV SURYAVANSHI, remember the name."

At just 14, Vaibhav Suryavanshi has announced his arrival with fearless cricket, capturing fans' hearts and leaving legends impressed.
