Not the finish Mumbai Indians (MI) were hoping for, especially at the Wankhede Stadium. Skipper Hardik Pandya went on his usual form, smashing 21 runs off 9 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). However, with just 1 run needed off 16 balls, the captain sent the ball flying — straight into the hands of Ishan Kishan at deep midwicket. In the same over, Naman Dhir, who had just come to the crease, faced two balls before departing LBW on the 3rd.
SRH's Eshan Malinga gave away only 1 run while taking two wickets in that over, which commentator Harsha Bhogle called a "bizarre over," as MI stalled to get that 1 run. Despite the drama, MI secured the winning run as Tilak Varma struck a four in the next over, sealing a 4-wicket victory in 18.1 overs.
After this game, MI sit on the 7th spot with 6 points to their name having 3 wins and 4 losses in 7 games while SRH have gone down to the 9th place with 4 points with just 2 wins and 5 defeats from 7 games as well.
Fans react to MI's win over SRHFans of MI showed their support for the team on X (formerly known as Twitter). Many also shared how MI owner Nita Ambani met Ishan Kishan after the game.
