Agartala (Tripura) [India], April 23 (ANI): Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Tuesday said that the main aim of the present state government is to provide quality and proper education, and around 123 school infrastructures would be developed along with the filling up of teaching and non-teaching staff in the education department, according to a CMO statement.
Saha said this after inaugurating the new building of Amtali H.S. School, followed by the virtual inauguration of the new buildings of Henry Derozio Academy, Gandhigram H.S. School, Taltala H.S. School, Indranagar High School, and Nandan Nagar H.S. School at the Amtali H.S. School premises today.
He stated that the state government has installed vending machines for sanitary napkins in 455 schools, at a cost of over Rs. 1.31 crores, and provided self-defence training to 1.42 lakh girl students across 2,058 schools under the Rani Laxmibai Self-Defence Training Program.
He said that Earth is the only planet where people live, and to secure our Earth, we must stress the importance of flora and fauna.
"We must be aware of the history of trees. PM Modi has always appealed to everyone to protect nature, and now we are beginning to understand its value. If our ecological balance is not maintained, then we will face many problems. That is why the Ministry of Education Department, from 22nd to 30th April, has launched a QR code for flora, so that people and students can scan it and be aware of trees. We must use technology. The way we used to provide teaching to students won't be effective; we must update our approach. For our state government, education is the most prioritised sector. Without education, development and progress are not possible. Our government and education department are working for the overall development of education, or else no country or state can progress," said Dr. Saha.
Dr. Saha, who is also the Education Minister of the state, stated that 34 years after Independence, the National Education Policy 2020 was implemented.
"Not only in schools but also in colleges, so that the upcoming generation would benefit. We have emphasised and introduced digital education, including smart classes, the Vande Bharat channel, NCERT, and Vidya Jyoti School. The primary objective of the present state government is to implement various schemes effectively and provide quality education. In the 2025-26 Financial Year, 30 more schools would be set up. For infrastructural development, 67 schools under secondary education and 56 under elementary education will be developed. We have decided to fill up teaching and non-teaching staff," he added.
According to the CMO statement, during the event, Deputy Speaker Ramprasad Paul, Special Secretary, Education Department, Raval Hamendra Kumar, Director of Secondary Education, NC Sharma and others were present. (ANI)
