Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel was fined Monday after his team maintained a slow over-rate during IPL clash against Mumbai Indians at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi on April 13.

As per the IPL rules, Patel was fined Rs 12 lakh as this was his team’s first offence of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which pertains to minimum over-rate offences.

In a thrilling IPL match at Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi Capitals (DC) suffered a heartbreaking defeat to Mumbai Indians (MI) by 12 runs, marking the end of DC's four-match winning streak.

DC, chasing a target of 206 runs, was led by a remarkable 89-run innings from Karun Nair, who made a sensational comeback after a stellar domestic season. Nair's aggressive batting included 12 fours and 5 sixes and helped DC reach 113 runs for just one wicket at the halfway mark.

However, a dramatic collapse ensued, highlighted by a hat-trick of run outs, which saw DC lose their last seven wickets for just 60 runs. The team, once comfortably positioned at 160/6, fell apart, with crucial wickets going down in quick succession, including Nair's and skipper Axar Patel's.

MI's bowlers, particularly Karn Sharma and Mitchell Santner, played pivotal roles in clinching the win, with Sharma taking 3 wickets for 36 runs.

Earlier, MI set a challenging total of 205/5, with notable contributions from Tilak Varma (59 runs off 33 balls) and Surya Kumar Yadav (40 runs off 28 balls). The DC bowlers struggled to contain MI's batting until Kuldeep Yadav and Vipraj Nigam each took two wickets.

The match ended with DC being all out for 193 runs in 19 overs, leaving MI seventh in the standings while DC remains second
