The Monsoon session of Parliament came to an end for the Lok Sabha on Thursday as it adjourned sine die. The month-long session, which began on July 21, was marked by frequent disruptions, adjournments, and walkouts, restricting the House’s work to only a handful of debates and the passage of several bills.

Speaking in the Lok Sabha on the last day, Speaker Om Birla mentioned that the House had only been able to function and debate important issues for only 37 hours this Monsoon Session.

Opposition parties repeatedly raised demands for discussions on Operation Sindoor and the Special Intensive Revision exercise in poll-bound Bihar, resulting in frequent adjournments.

“This time in Parliament, there was so much ruckus and opposition didn’t cooperate. Due to this obstinate behaviour, opposition missed participating in discussions on several important bills which were passed," a government official told ET

Bills passed in the Lok Sabha during the Session
Despite repeated disruptions, the Lok Sabha passed 12 important bills, including:

  • Readjustment of Representation of Scheduled Tribes in Assembly Constituencies of Goa Bill, 2025
  • Merchant Shipping Bill, 2025
  • Manipur Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2025
  • Manipur Appropriation (No.2) Bill, 2025
  • National Sports Governance Bill, 2025
  • National Anti-Doping (Amendment) Bill, 2025
  • Income-tax Bill, 2025
  • Taxation Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2025
  • Indian Ports Bill, 2025
  • Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2025
  • Indian Institutes of Management (Amendment) Bill, 2025
  • Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025
With the adjournment of the lower house of the Parliament in the Monsoon session, it now looks ahead to the Winter session, where lawmakers are expected to resume pending debates and continue legislative business.
