How to Make Clothes Color Fast: Most people enjoy wearing cotton clothes in the summer. They're not only light and comfortable, but also look beautiful. However, cotton clothes tend to lose color very quickly. Especially dark colors like blue, pink, or red tend to fade quickly. Every time you wash these clothes, they tend to fade a little bit. Consequently, they start to look worn within two or three washes. If this happens to you often, this article may be helpful. Here, we're sharing a very simple trick you can use to make cotton clothes color-fast. This will prevent them from fading after repeated washings.

What is this trick?
This amazing trick was shared by digital creator Poonam Dewani on her YouTube channel. Poonam often shares simple and effective hacks on her social media handles. In this series, she has explained an easy way to maintain the color of cotton clothes.
What to do?
First, take 10-12 liters of water in a large vessel.
Add about 50-60 grams of alum and dissolve it thoroughly.
After this, add two handfuls (about 100 grams) of salt to this water.
Now, unpack the clothes you want to fix the color and place them in the water.
If you wish, you can add several items of clothing at once. Soak the clothes in this mixture for at least 2 hours.
After 2 hours, rinse the clothes thoroughly with clean water to completely remove the salt and alum. After this process, the clothes may show a slight color cast at first, but eventually, the color will be completely fixed and will not spread to other clothes.

This trick will also work.
Sometimes, after trying this remedy, the clothes become a little stiff. Poonam Dewani has a simple trick for this. She says that another step is necessary to soften the clothes. Add 2 teaspoons of vinegar to a bucket of water and soak the clothes in it for half an hour. The vinegar softens the clothes and helps them retain their color longer. Then, dry the clothes in mild sunlight.
This method will prevent your cotton clothes from fading or shrinking. Furthermore, their prints will remain clean and bright. Whether it's a suit, bedsheet, or saree, you can use this remedy on all of them.
