Sehore (Madhya Pradesh): Registrations of 11 private nursing homes have been cancelled and sealed over the past three months in a significant action by the health department due to serious regulatory violations.
The crackdown follows inspections ordered by Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Dr Sudhir Kumar Deharia. A seven-member investigation team comprising DHO, BMO, medical officers, and other staff found alarming lapses during checks conducted across city and rural hospitals.
Hospitals including Suyash Hospital (Sehore), Muskan Hospital (Bilkisganj), Vedansh Multi Specialty Hospital (Ahmedpur), Multicare Journal Hospital (Rehti), Imhotep Hospital (Bhairunda), Likhitkar Hospital (Shyampur), Siddhi Vinayak Hospital (Doraha), MM Hospital and Research Centre (Sehore), Arogya Hospital (Ichhawar), and Devanchal Nursing Home were among those sealed.
According to the CMHO, many of these facilities were run by BHMS doctors without the mandatory presence of MBBS professionals, lacked proper registration, employed untrained nursing staff, and operated with insufficient space and medical equipment. Shockingly, some were violating norms despite being approved under Ayushman Bharat scheme.
Dr Deharia confirmed that investigation teams continued inspections based on complaints. "We will not compromise on patients’ safety. Any facility violating health standards will face strict action," he said.
The health department has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring quality healthcare services in the district.
