Nowgong (Madhya Pradesh): A team of Lokayukta officials arrested patwari Pankaj Dubey red-handed while he was accepting bribe of Rs 5,000 at 9 am on Mondayin in Nowgong constituency.
The Lokayukta team acted on the basis of a complaint Dayaram Rajput. Patwari Pankaj demanded bribe for demarcation work of his farm land.
In an unexpected twist, the Patwari's father, Devidin Dubey, allegedly swallowed part of the bribe amount on the spot in an attempt to destroy evidence, causing commotion and drawing a crowd.
According to sources, the Patwari had initially demanded Rs 10,000 but later settled for Rs 5,000. The Lokayukta team, led by Sub-Inspector KPS Bain, quickly moved in with officers including Inspector Roshni Jain and several constables.
Following the incident, Devidin Dubey was taken to Chhatarpur District Hospital for an ultrasound to confirm the swallowed currency, but he refused the procedure, creating further complications for investigators.
Meanwhile, the entire incident was captured on CCTV at the patwari’s residence. The footage has been seized, and both Pankaj and his father are currently under interrogation as investigations continue.
Police from Nowgong led by station incharge Satish Singh, also reached the scene to help control the situation.
