Mira Bhayandar News: MBVV Police Seize 14.868 Kg Of Cocaine Worth ₹22.33 Crore; 3, Including 2 Foreign Nationals, Arrested

Palghar: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Crime Branch Unit 1, Kashimira, of the Mira Bhayandar Vasai Virar Police Commissionerate (MBVV) has successfully seized 14.868 kilograms of cocaine worth approximately Rs 22.33 crore from three accused, including two foreign nationals and one Indian woman. The operation also led to the recovery of substantial cash in Indian and foreign currency.

About The Case

Acting on a credible tip-off received on April 15, 2025,  the Crime Branch team raided a residence in Motilal Nagar, Bhayandar East, where they apprehended a woman identified as Sabina Nazir Shaikh, 42, who was found in possession of 11.830 kilogram of cocaine for sale valued at Rs. ₹ 17,74,50,000 (Seventeen Crore Seventy Four Lakh Fifty Thousand Rupees) along with Rs 80,000 in cash. Following this, an FIR was registered at Navghar Police Station under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.

Further investigation revealed that Shaikh had sourced the contraband from a Nigerian national identified as Andy Ubabudike Onyinse, 45, residing in Mira Road East. Andy was apprehended the same day, and 2.604 kilograms of cocaine worth Rs 3,90,72,000 (Three Crore Ninety Lakh Seventy Two Thousand Rupees) was seized from his possession, along with Rs 1,04,430 in Indian currency.

During interrogation, Andy revealed that the drugs had been procured from his female associate, a Cameroonian national, Miss Christabel Enjei, 32, residing in Vasai East, Palghar. Christabel was also arrested on the same day, and the police recovered 433 grams of cocaine valued at Rs 64,98,000 (Sixty-Four Lakh Ninety Eight Thousand Rupees) along with Rs. 1 lakh in Indian currency, 174 Nigerian Naira notes of Rs1000 denomination, 48 notes of Rs. 500 denomination, and 14 notes of USD 100, along with four mobile phones.

In total, the authorities have seized 14.868 kilograms of cocaine valued at Rs 22,30,20,000 (Twenty-Two Crore Thirty Lakh Twenty Thousand Rupees), along with Rs 2,84,430 in Indian cash, the aforementioned Nigerian and American currency, and four mobile phones.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of Police Commissioner, MBVV, Madhukar Pandey and his team. This marks a significant breakthrough in the fight against narcotics trafficking in the region. Authorities have confirmed that further investigation is underway to uncover the full extent of the network and ensure that all those involved are brought to justice.
