Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)'s Advertisement Department has filed a First Information Report (FIR) against unidentified persons for putting up unauthorized birthday banners for Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) leader and Maharashtra minister Bharat Gogawale and his son Vikas Gogawale in the Dongri area.
According to the complaint filed by BMC’s advertisement inspector Ajay Yashwant Walke (49), on the night of June 2 at around 10:30 PM, Walke and his team were patrolling B Division limits to take action against illegal boards, banners, and hoardings. During the patrol, they noticed several birthday banners for Bharat Gogawale on electric poles in Dongri, also mentioning the name of his son.
The team photographed the banners and began removing them. Further investigation revealed that no official permission had been obtained to put up these banners.
As a result, an FIR has been registered at Dongri Police Station under Sections 3 and 4 of the Maharashtra Prevention of Defacement of Public Property Act, 1995, against unknown individuals responsible for the unauthorized political and social hoardings. The investigation into the matter is currently underway.
