Bollywood actress Preity Zinta won hearts as she donated a whopping amount of more than Rs 1 crore for the welfare of Army widows and their children. This comes days after India's terrific 'Operation Sindoor' on Pakistan, to avenge the April 22 Pahalgam attack.
As per an official statement, Preity donated a total of Rs 1.10 crore to the Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) of the South Western Command, as part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative by her Indian Premiere League (IPL) team, Punjab Kings.
During an event organised in Jaipur on Saturday, Preity stated that the sacrificed made by our jawans can never be repaid, but the countrymen should help them in whatever small ways they can.
"It is both an honour and a responsibility to provide assistance to the brave families of our armed forces. The sacrifices made by our soldiers can never truly be repaid. However, we can stand by their families and support them in moving forward," she said.
She further continued, "We are immensely proud of the Indian Armed Forces, and we stand in unwavering support of our nation and its brave defenders."
The event was attended by the Army Commander South Western Command, Regional President Shapta Shakti AWWA and Army families.
A few days ago, while responding to a fan on social media, Preity had shared how she has seen the army life up close as she too is a "fauji kid". "I have seen the grit, the sweat, the blood, the tears up close. Sometimes I feel Fauji families are a little stronger than the Fauji’s themselves ! Have you seen those mothers that give their sons up for our country, those wives that will never see their husbands smile again and those kids that will never have their fathers or mothers guide them through life! This is their reality (sic)," she wrote.
I cannot speak for everyone else as people process things differently. Being a fauji kid and coming from an army background, these things hit close to my heart, so I am very vocal about how I feel ❤️ I have seen the grit , the sweat, the blood, the tears up close.
