The Visitor Management System (VMS) was inaugurated by the Joint Commissioner of Thane Police, Dnyaneshwar Chavan, at the Thane Police Commissioner’s headquarters on Tuesday. The system has been introduced to streamline the process for visitors arriving with complaints.
The VMS has been implemented under the concept and guidance of Thane Police Commissioner Ashutosh Dumbare.
Earlier, visitor information was recorded manually in a register book when individuals arrived at the headquarters to meet senior police officers with written complaints or applications. Police sources stated that retrieving this data in a timely manner was difficult, often resulting in delays and inefficiencies.
How the VMS works:
According to police officials, visitors must enter their name, address, mobile number, the concerned police station, and the officer they wish to meet into the VMS. Once the information is submitted, an automatic message is sent to the concerned officer informing them of the scheduled visit.
With the VMS in place, weekly and monthly reports of visitors can be generated easily. This enhances transparency and helps expedite the grievance redressal process, ensuring greater convenience for the public.
The inauguration event was attended by Vinayak Deshmukh, Additional Commissioner of Police (Western Regional Division); Shrikant Pathak, Additional Commissioner of Police (Administration); Dr. Shrikant Paropkari, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Headquarters-1); Parag Manere, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Economic Offences Branch); Shashikant Borate, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Headquarters-2); and Meena Makwana, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Branch), Thane.
