A chilling incident of gang rape has surfaced in Gopalganj, Bihar, where a woman was assaulted while on a visit to the region from Uttar Pradesh to get her disabled father treated. The shocking event took place at the Sasamusa railway station under the Kuchaykot police station jurisdiction.
According to reports, the victim had arrived in Gopalganj with her father for medical treatment. After her father was treated at a local doctor's clinic in Shyampur, she returned to Sasamusa railway station with him on Sunday night but missed her train. They were stranded at the station overnight.
Around 4 AM, the victim went to the hand pump at the station to fetch water. At this point, three young men ambushed her, gagged her, and forcibly took her to a secluded area where they gang-raped her.
The attackers fled after the assault, leaving the woman devastated. She screamed for help, which alerted locals who immediately informed the police. The Kuchaykot police reached the scene quickly, and based on the victim's identification, one of the accused has been arrested. Police are conducting raids to apprehend the remaining two suspects.
The victim has been admitted to a local hospital for treatment and medical examination. Gopalganj's SP, Awadhesh Dixit, confirmed the arrest and assured that the other culprits would be apprehended soon. The police are conducting a scientific investigation with the help of the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL).
The incident has sparked outrage among local residents, who are demanding severe punishment for the perpetrators.
