Sawan 2025: Sawan is starting from July 11. In such a situation, Shiva will be worshiped throughout the month of Shravan, but before worshiping Mahadev, know what Bholenath likes and what he does not like.

Sawan 2025: Mahadev is considered to be a god who gets pleased instantly. That is why he is called Ashutosh. Because 'Ashu' means 'soon' or 'immediately', and 'Tosh' means 'satisfied' or 'pleased'. Lord Shiva is also called Bhole.
It is believed that whatever a person offers to Lord Shiva, he accepts it. This year, Sawan is starting from 11th July. Worshiping Bholenath in Sawan is considered infallible but before worshipping Shiva on Shravan Monday and the entire month of Sawan, know what Shiva likes and what he does not like.
What does Lord Shiv like?
- Water - During the Samudra Manthan, Mahadev drank all the poison. Lord Shiva's body started burning after drinking the poison. During that time, Lord Shiva got the most relief from water, that is why water is dear to Mahadev.
- Belpatra - The three leaves of Belpatra symbolize the three eyes of Lord Shiva. Offering one Belpatra on Shivlinga gives the fruit of Kanyadan of 1 crore girls.
- Dhatura - The person who offers a Dhatura to Lord Shiva, gets the same result as offering 1000 blue lotuses. It is said that offering Dhatura to Lord Shiva removes bitterness from the mind and thoughts.
- Shami flower and Aak flower- According to the scriptures, offering one Aak flower in Shiva Puja gives fruits equivalent to donating gold. On the other hand, offering one Shami flower on Shivling will give the same virtuous results as offering 1000 Dhatura flowers.
- Sandalwood - Sandalwood is related to coolness. It is believed that offering sandalwood on Shivling increases respect and fame in the society.
- Milk, camphor, cannabis, ash, rice, Rudraksha, thandai, malpua and halwa are also the favorite things of Shiva.
What does Lord Shiva not like?
- Make-up - Lord Shiva is a recluse and he does not like things related to beauty, so do not offer any makeup items like turmeric, mehndi, roli, bhale to Baba.
- Conch shell - Water should not be offered to Bhole Baba with a conch shell. According to Shiv Puran, Lord Bholenath killed a demon named Shankhchud.
- Tulsi - Shiva had killed Jalandhar, the husband of Tulsi (who was earlier Vrinda). Tulsi had cursed Shiva. Therefore, Tulsi is prohibited in the worship of Shiva.
- Coconut - Coconut is considered to be a form of Goddess Lakshmi, hence Lord Shiva should never be anointed with coconut water.
- Ketaki - According to Shiv Purana, Ketaki flower has been cursed by Lord Shiva for lying in the dispute between Brahma and Vishnu. Therefore, do not offer Ketaki flower to Lord Shiva.
