Ange Postecoglou with Sky Sports reporter, Patrick Davison, after questioning the merits of VAR in the aftermath .
Spurs fell behind early in the second half to an Enzo Fernandez header before had a second goal ruled out by VAR. Pape Sarr then thought he had equalised for Spurs, only to see his ferocious strike chalked off as well following another VAR intervention.
It was another chastening night for Postecoglou, who was taunted with chants of "You don't know what you're doing" from his own fans when he replaced Lucas Bergvall with Sarr. The Australian then appeared to cup his ear towards the away fans after Sarr's goal, though he later denied there was any malice behind his actions.
His tense discussion with Davison was shown twice by on the night. Here, Mirror Football has the interview in full...

Patrick Davison (PD): "Well Ange, your reflections on the end of what I guess is a difficult night?"
Ange Postecoglou (AP): "It's a difficult night, a tight game and not an easy place to come. We had to work hard to stay in the game, we let in a disappointing goal then fought our way back into the game but weren't able to get anything out of it."
PD: "In terms of your team, your players, getting on the ball and playing your football, did you get to the levels tonight?"
AP: "We almost did. We tried to. It is still a work in progress, the first time we had the whole group in together and in the final third we could've been a bit cleaner with our football but for the most part we handled it pretty well."
PD: "Is part of that then maybe going up another level again: cohesion, rhythm, some of these players have been out a while. It doesn't just come back magically I guess."
AP: "It's part of the process. It's a tough ask coming here, there was still enough there tonight to show the lads are getting back to the level we need."
PB: "Obviously VAR plays its part, there were two long delays and two goals ruled out. Their ones tight but I guess factual. I could see you didn't agree with Pap Sarr's goal being ruled out, just tell us how you saw it."
AP: "It's killing the game mate, it's not the same game it used to be. We all sat on our couches last night and watched TV [when Everton's James Tarkowski was not sent off for a high challenge on Liverpool's Alexis Mac Allister] and I guarantee you if Jarred Gillett was VAR last night it would've been a different outcome so you just don't know what we're going to get.
"You are standing around for 12 minutes. It's just killing the game, but no-one cares about that, they just love the drama and controversy and I'm sure there will be 24 hours discussion about it and that's what everyone wants - they're not really interested that it's killing the spectacle of the game.
"If a referee sees that and he needs to see it for six minutes, what's clear and obvious about it mate?
"Last night we were all sat on our couches and saw one replay and thought 'oh my god'. Tonight we sat there and were waiting for six minutes for something that VAR official Jarred Gillett thought was clear and obvious - it's crazy, it's madness. We accept it and have to take the fall out from it. Clear and obvious? What does that suggest, that it's on the first replay. That's why the game is going the way it is."
PD: "I guess part of your issue then is the delay, but do you think that decision's wrong?"
AP: "Look Pat, you can try and force me into a corner..."
PD: "I'm not trying to force you into a corner..."
AP: "You are. Did you think last night was a red card? Was it clear and obvious?
PD: "Yes."
AP: "Yes, okay. How many minutes did it take this referee to figure out it was clear and obvious? In your basic knowledge of vocabulary, clear and obvious, what does that suggest to you. On the first replay, is that clear and obvious? If you have to watch something quite a few times, is that clear and obvious?"
PD: "No, it's maybe not clear and obvious [but] I do think it was a foul, if I'm honest."

AP: "Right, there you go. So the referee didn't see it, he then needs to see it for six minutes, but he gets the right outcome so you're happy. That's why the game is going the way it is. I guess people like you will continue to be happy, sitting on your couches, waiting six minutes for clear and obvious stuff. I don't agree with it, but that's fine."
PD: "Fine. What happened with you and the supporters tonight, Ange? They booed the substitutions you made, Bergvall for Sar, and when Sarr scored you looked at them. You heard the chants, 'You don't know what you're doing', you heard that?
AP: "I don't know what you're talking about."
PD: "You don't think you looked at the supporters?"
AP: "No, I did. "I wanted them to be happy. I thought it was a cracking goal. I wanted them to cheer. They’ve booed my substitutions before. It had nothing to do with them booing my substitutions."
PD: "You said in the week, you did an interview with Mark Schwarzer, and you talked about losing a large portion of the fans. Is that what we saw tonight? Do you feel like you've lost some of them?"
AP: "Look, I get it Pat. You're trying really hard, that's fine. You've already decided what the outcome is. My outcome tonight is it was a really tight game which was decided by a really poor decision and apart from that, everyone got through healthy, we got some great minutes into some guys and we move to Sunday."
PD: "And you saw enough for Thursday? Because the season hinges on that ultimately, doesn't it?"
AP: "No, no, no. We've got to go out there Sunday. I think it's important to play."
PD: "Ange, there's no agenda..."
AP: "No, no, thats fine, no worries."
PD: "Thank you."
