A building in Brighton has collapsed, sparking a major emergency call out.
The building collapsed this morning with the cause remaining unknown at this time. Firefighters were alerted to the incident on Ryde Road with three fire engines attending.
A gas company was called to the scene to see if there had been a gas explosion. Gas workers have since confirmed the building did collapse and that no gas explosion made it come down.

No casualties have been reported following the collapse. Firefighters remain on scene. Neighbours claimed the building had been an old workshop. Photos from the scene showed the roof of the building collapsed in on itself.
Pieces of the structure could be seen having been scattered in piles on the ground around the building. Residents reported hearing a loud groaning noise before they noticed a massive plume of dust and smoke when the building collapsed.

One local told The Argus the scene resembled something out "a disaster movie." Others reported hearing a loud explosion while some said the area looked devastated following the collapse.
An East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Three fire engines and three officers were in attendance at Ryde Road, Brighton, responding to a building collapse. Firefighters remained on scene between 8.04 and 10.15 to ensure public safety."
The Mirror has contacted the East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service for comment.
