Actor Matt LeBlanc's Friends co-stars are reportedly 'concerned' for the actor, who has become 'reclusive' following the tragic death of close pal Matthew Perry.
Matt, who played Joey Tribbiani in the hit sitcom, worked alongside Matthew Perry's Chandler for years, going on to form a close bond with the troubled star. The pair remained close until Matthew's untimely death in October 2023, which was officially put down to the acute effects of the drug ketamine. An investigation is ongoing, with five people charged following the Perry's death.
Sources claim those close to LeBlanc are worried for the usually "upbeat" actor, who seems to have lost interest in "socialising". Speaking to In Touch Weekly, an insider claimed: "Nobody’s body shaming Matt or accusing him of anything untoward lifestyle, that’s not what’s going on here. What’s concerning though, for Jen and all the Central Perk crew, is that he’s such a recluse these days and they barely hear from him from one month to the next."
Saying that it's "plain sad" for his friends to see, the source added: "He used to be such an upbeat, happy guy but now it’s as though he doesn’t feel worthy to be in their company somehow." They affirmed that the old Friends gang want him "back in the fold". The Mirror has reached out to Matt LeBlanc's reps for comment.
Matthew, who played Chandler on NBC sitcom Friends, starred alongside Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer and Matt LeBlanc for all 10 seasons, from 1994 to 2004. Joey Tribbiani actor Matt paid tribute to his friend's sudden passing in a heartbreaking social media post, two weeks after the sad news broke.
He wrote: "Matthew. It is with a heavy heart I say goodbye. The times we had together are honestly among the favorite times of my life. It was an honor to share the stage with you and to call you my friend. I will always smile when I think of you and I’ll never forget you. Never. Spread your wings and fly brother you’re finally free. Much love. And I guess you’re keeping the 20 bucks you owe me."
He shared the words alongside several memorable moments of the pair from their time together on the iconic show. The first saw a funny sketch as they awaited anxiously for a possible intruder in their apartment. Matt's character stood with a frying pan, while Matthew's held washing up liquid. Other images saw the pair hugging on set, while the final shot in the reel showcased a touching moment when all the main cast members embraced.
