Love Island's Helena Ford accused of sharing offensive tweet as post resurfaces

An offensive tweet allegedly made by Love Island's Helena Ford in 2014 has resurfaced online as a source close to the reality star admits she was 'naive' when she posted it. The 29-year-old has divided fans after waltzing into the villa and is currently snuggling up to Harry Cooksley after last night’s brutal Casa Amor recoupling.

Some fans love Helena, however others have accused her of being “obsessed” with co-star Shakira Khan, who she had a raging row with this week. Now, some viewers are demanding that Helena is sent packing over an apparent historic social media post, which has resurfaced from 2014.

The tweet, which has since been deleted from her X account and was posted when she was young, read: "All I can hear are these f**king foreign d**kheads."

Meanwhile, the account which appears to be Helena's also features a retweeted post which uses the offensive term for a Chinese person, which was posted back in August 2018.

"Someone to spoon n half a c****y with every Sunday would be ideal, you can f**k off Monday to Saturday tho x,"

When contacted by the Mirror, ITV told us a source close to Helena said: "These tweets are not reflective of the language Helena would use as a 30 year old woman and she would acknowledge she has done a lot of growing up since what she very naively posted over eight years ago."

They also pointed out that as Helena was currently in the villa, she was unable to reply while stating all Islanders have language and behaviour training, which covers race, ethnicity and microaggressions.

This week fans begged producers to step in after watching Helena pursue Harry, 30 - despite Shakira, 22, saying she was interested in him first.

One said: “I said it from the start, Helena’s obsession is not with Harry or Harrison it’s with Shakira. Even the wearing of Shakira’s bikini not once. I actually think @loveisland need to do something now. It's so uncomfortable to watch.”

And someone else added: “At this point it’s blatantly obvious Helena only goes for for the men that are interested in Shakira.”

A new love triangle kicked off in the Love Island villa earlier in the weeks as Shakira and Helena fought for Ty's attention. Ty's decision to spend his first night in the TV mansion with Helena left Shakira distinctly non-plussed. Both girls were eyeing up the site engineer, leading to fireworks later that night.

Speaking on the day beds with Emma and Meg, Helena told them: "Her face last night when I said Ty was going to get into bed with me… I get that it's like 'Helena is going for the guy' but you've not specified you want Ty."

However, despite cosying up to Helena during the night, Ty later tells Shakira: "I'll be real, I'm very interested in you."

Shakira replies: "I thought you were all about Helena last night, I've had enough of that triangle… I feel like we might have a case of musical beds tonight."

However, mid conversation, Helena walks over to the pair and interrupts them, asking Ty for a chat in The Snug.

The ballsy move left tensions rising as Shakira quipped to Toni: "I thought she had an undeniable connection with Harry, I thought he was the love of her life..."

Not leaving it there, Shakira then went back to The Snug and stole back Ty, leaving Helena gobsmacked.
