The water level of 11 river monitoring sites across the country has crossed the warning level. Despite this, no place has come under the danger or extreme flood category yet. At present, no site has crossed the danger level or the historical highest flood level. The Central Water Commission (CWC) has given this information based on the daily flood bulletin issued from the Central Flood Control Room on Wednesday.
According to the bulletin, 12 places in Assam, Bihar, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh have been marked as places of flood. The water level in these places has crossed the warning limit, but is below the danger level. In Assam, the Kushiyara river at Karimganj and the Brahmaputra at Nematighat in Jorhat are close to the level of concern. At the same time, Kosi at Baltara in Bihar, Bagmati at Benibad, and Gandak at Dumariyaghat have been kept under surveillance.
In Uttar Pradesh, monitoring is going on on the Ganga (Fatehgarh and Kachla Bridge), Ghaghra (Elginbridge), and Gandak (Khadda). The water level in Khadda has reached the warning limit of 95 meters. The water level at Mathani Road Bridge and Rajghat on the Subarnarekha river in Balasore district of Odisha has crossed the warning level. The water level of the Kaveri River in Musiri, Tamil Nadu, has also reached above the warning limit.
Situation under control despite monsoon activity
The CWC has also issued water flow forecasts for 23 dam and barrage sites in 10 states of Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal. The flow in major dams like Almatti, Narayanpur, and Tungabhadra in Karnataka is high or stable. Water flow has also increased significantly in the Rengali reservoir of Odisha and the Durgapur barrage in West Bengal, due to which warnings have been issued for possible downstream impacts. The CWC has confirmed that despite the monsoon activity, no river site has touched its previous highest flood level so far.
