How did silent Ramleela start?

According to a report, 200 years ago, a sadhvi named Jamna lived in Bissau of Jhunjhunu district. One day she gathered some children of the village and made them perform Ramleela. But the children were having difficulty in speaking the dialogues. Then the sadhvi advised them to act in gestures. Since then the tradition of silent Ramleela started.

It is said that when this silent Ramleela was held for the first time, the Sadhvi made masks of all the characters including Ram, Laxman and Sita with her own hands. Even their costumes were prepared by the Sadhvi herself. Gradually the number of people watching this Ramleela started increasing, so it started being organized on the roadside outside the village.
