BJP Leader Rajeev Chandrasekhar Targets Congress Chief Kharge Over Land Allotment Controversy

Send Push

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Monday criticized Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge after his family decided to return a five-acre plot of land that was allocated to a trust managed by his son, Rahul Kharge. Chandrasekhar accused the Congress of exploiting the poor for political gain.

“It is evident that the Congress speaks about the poor during elections, but once in power, they prioritize giving land to their own family members. We’ve seen scandals, like the MUDA scam involving Karnataka CM's wife, and now Kharge’s family is forced to return five acres of land. This is typical Congress policy: they exploit the poor for votes but loot and grab land when in power," Chandrasekhar stated.

Rahul Kharge Requests Cancellation of Land Allotment Rahul Kharge, son of Mallikarjun Kharge, wrote to the CEO of the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) on Sunday, requesting the cancellation of the ownership of the five-acre plot initially allocated to the Siddhartha Vihar Trust.

In his letter, he stated, “We respectfully withdraw our proposal and request the board to cancel the allotment of the CA site requested for the multiple skill development center and research center. The board may kindly accept this as a voluntary surrender of the CA site as per Clause 8 of the allotment letter.”

BJP's Reaction and Allegations The official BJP Karnataka handle on X (formerly Twitter) posted Rahul Kharge’s letter, accusing the Kharge family of "looting" Karnataka for 50 years. “After being caught red-handed, the Kharge family has been forced to return the 5-acre CA site that was illegally grabbed under the Siddhartha Vihar Trust. By doing so, Priyank Kharge has admitted to the wrongdoing! The Kharge family has looted Karnataka for 50 years. Junior Kharge, alias Troll Minister, should resign for this scam and betrayal of the people of Karnataka,” the post read.

Controversy Over MUDA Land Allotment to Karnataka CM's Wife This development follows Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s wife offering to surrender 14 plots allocated to her by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) charged Siddaramaiah in a money laundering case. The Mysuru Lokayukta launched an official inquiry into the matter following a court order on September 27 to file an FIR. The Lokayukta was instructed to investigate allegations that MUDA illegally allocated 14 sites worth Rs 56 crore to Siddaramaiah’s wife, Parvathi, in prime locations in Mysuru city.
