Bomb Threats Target Eight Railway Stations in Rajasthan, Security Tightened

JAIPUR: Security measures have been increased at eight railway stations across Rajasthan following bomb threats. Officials reported that a letter threatening to blow up the railway stations in Jaipur, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Hanumangarh, Sriganganagar, Bundi, Alwar, and Udaipur was received on the evening of October 1.

According to Captain Shashi Kiran, Railway CPRO, the letter was sent to the Hanumangarh railway official, prompting immediate security action. Hanumangarh station was thoroughly searched, but no suspicious items were found. A case has been registered against unidentified individuals at the Hanumangarh GRP police station.

Authorities continue to search trains and increase security at all affected stations. While no suspicious items have been discovered yet, security has been heightened across the railway stations, including in Bikaner, where all passengers are being checked. Additional forces, including police, GRP, and security personnel, have been deployed, and a dog squad is assisting with searches.

Bikaner DRM office PRO Dhunilal Kumawat also confirmed the increased security at the stations.

The threatening letter was signed by someone identifying as Mohammad Salim Ansari, the self-proclaimed Jammu and Kashmir area commander of Jaish-e-Mohammed. The letter also mentioned threats to railway stations and religious sites in Madhya Pradesh.

The Hanumangarh station superintendent received the letter, which had a postal stamp and contained writing in Punjabi. Dated September 30, the letter warned of bombings in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh on October 30 and November 2, with specific mention of railway stations and the Ujjain Mahakal temple.
