Haryana: Captain Ajay Singh Yadav Resigns from Congress, Cites "Shabby Treatment"

Send Push

Haryana politician Captain Ajay Singh Yadav has resigned from the Congress party, citing "shabby treatment" following Sonia Gandhi's exit as party president. In a post on social media, Yadav shared that the decision to resign was difficult, especially given his family's 70-year-long association with Congress. His father, Rao Abhey Singh, became an MLA in 1952, and Yadav had carried on the political legacy.

Expressing his dissatisfaction with the party's leadership, Yadav said, "I am disillusioned with the party high command for treating me shabbily after Sonia Gandhi left the post of Congress President."

Yadav announced his resignation on social media, explaining that he was awaiting its formal acceptance by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. He also hinted at sharing more details about his grievances with the media once his resignation is accepted. "I will provide my version of the harassment and embarrassment meted out to me over the last two years by certain leaders," Yadav said.

Reaffirming his political commitment, Yadav stated, "I am not a saint, and I am a full-time politician. I will decide my future course of action once my resignation is accepted." He also indicated that he would disclose more about the internal issues that impacted his political career.

Yadav submitted his resignation on Thursday, relinquishing his role as Chairman of the AICC OBC Department and his primary membership of the Congress party. His departure marks the third high-profile exit from Congress in Haryana in the last two years, following Kuldeep Bishnoi and Kiran Choudhry, who both joined the BJP.

While Yadav has yet to reveal his future political plans, he has promised to meet with the press to provide further insights into the challenges he faced within the party over the past two years.
