Ranchi: Union Minister and Jharkhand Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) election in-charge Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday condemned the Hemant Soren-led Jharkhand government, labeling it a "Jurm, Murder and Mafia" regime instead of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM).

Speaking at a public rally in Baharagora, Chouhan stated, "Just as clouds have come as a crisis, the Hemant Soren government is a bigger crisis than these clouds... This is not JMM but a government run by Jurm, Murder and Mafia." Chouhan expressed optimism for a brighter future, saying, "The clouds are raining, lightning is flashing, and it is raining heavily, but still you are determined to bring about a change... I can assure you that the darkness will fade away, the sun will rise, the lotus will bloom, and change will come."

In a media interaction, Chouhan highlighted the concerns of Jharkhand's women, who are reportedly seeking assistance to protect their land, daughters, and jobs. He vowed that the BJP would ensure their safety and create employment while preventing infiltration. "The mothers, sisters, and daughters of Jharkhand are appealing that their land, 'roti,' and daughters are in danger. That is why they are asking for our help. On behalf of the BJP, I assure my sisters that we will protect your land, bread, and daughters," he affirmed.

Earlier on the same day, a delegation from the Election Commission of India, led by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, arrived in Ranchi to assess election preparedness for the upcoming assembly elections in Jharkhand, expected to take place by December 2024. The current government's tenure is set to end in January 2025, although the Election Commission has yet to announce the official election schedule. In the previous 2020 Assembly election, the JMM secured 30 seats, while the BJP won 25 and the Congress claimed 16.
