A Place in the Sun fans expressed their concern as they watched Laura Hamilton tackle a 'tough' property hunt. During Friday's instalment of the popular Channel 4 programme, presenter Laura was tasked with finding an idyllic holiday home for lifelong pals Jan and midwife Chris.
The pair, who have shared a friendship spanning five decades, were on the lookout for a dreamy Spanish retreat in Almeria, with Laura facing the daunting task of satisfying their extensive family needs, including six children and five grandchildren.
They required at least three bedrooms but ideally more, alongside two bathrooms and expansive outdoor space for the grandkids to play in.
A swimming pool was non-negotiable, and they also desired a man cave plus a sizeable garage for Chris' husband Ash, all within a budget of £150,000, reports .
Jan shared their motivation for purchasing a vacation home: "Now we are getting to that age where you have worked all your life and now it's time to relax and kick back and what better place to do it but in the sun."
Laura presented five properties that seemed promising, yet the search began on shaky ground as the first few homes failed to impress.
Viewers at home didn't hesitate to suggest that their budget might be insufficient for their extensive wishlist.
One viewer took to social media and quipped: "Minimum Three bed, two bath. Budget £3.50. #aplaceinthesun. Another wrote: " Another chimed in: "Minimum 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a pool and a garage all for a max budget of 165k. They don't want much do they! #aplaceinthesun."
A third sympathised: "Poor Laura she's really struggling here #aplaceinthesun." One remarked: "3 double bedrooms for 18 people, not a problem #aplaceinthesun."
Meanwhile another jested: "I have got to manage their expectations" = Oh gawd, they want a mansion for £7.50 #aplaceinthesun."
In the end, they decided to make an offer on one house, although it was slightly over their budget as it was listed at £166,000.
The property under consideration was a villa boasting ample outdoor space including a pool, alfresco dining areas, its own bar, and a roof terrace with mountain views.
Inside, it featured a spacious living room, a separate kitchen/dining room, en-suite bedrooms, and a third bedroom with a family bathroom. They took a gamble and offered £149,500, but the sellers deemed it too low, so they eventually agreed on £155,000.
