One person has suffered chest and leg injuries in a crash on the A1 between Alnwick and Northgate and was taken to hospital after being treated at the scene by ambulance crews. A horror took place on the between Alnwick and Northgate forcing the northbound carriageway to close. A spokesperson for North East Ambulance Service said: "We were alerted at 20.17 today (13 MAY) to a vehicle which was reported to have rolled over on the A1 northbound carriageway between Shilbottle and Alnwick. We dispatched two paramedic ambulance crews, a specialist paramedic and a clinical team leader, who treated one person with chest and leg injuries before conveying them to hospital."
A post on the website reads: "The A1 in Northumberland is closed northbound between the A697 (Northgate) and the A1068 (Alnwick) due to a single vehicle collision. Northumbria Police are on scene." The A1 is the UK's longest road running on for 410 miles from central London to the centre of Edinburgh.
A diversion route is in place. The has contacted Northumbria Police for more information.
