A British tourist has died after falling from a wall in Majorca. The 41-year-old lost his balance and plunged around 16ft to his death at the beach resort of Cala Aguila on the island's northeast coast. Police and firefighters recovered the man's body after receiving a 999 call at around 1:30am on Friday morning.

The Brit is thought to have died instantly after falling from the wall into a rocky area below and local authorities said they are treating it as an accident. It was not immediately clear whether he had been alone or with other people before his death near the resort, which is a popular hotspot for holidaymakers, thanks to its long sandy beach and expanse of pine woodland.

It comes just weeks after the death of another British woman in Majorca, who fell from a lookout point in the Palma neighbourhood of El Jonquet last month.

She was rushed to hospital and admitted to an intensive care unit, where she died later that night, according to reports.

Another UK holidaymaker also died in a tragic fall from the Segovia aqueduct in central Spain in April.

The 63-year-old man was seen by passersby tumbling from an observation deck on the Roman aqueduct and reportedly lost his balance and fell backwards before plummeting to his death.

The latest tragic accident also follows the discovery of at least five bodies floating off the Majorcan coast with their hands and feet bound earlier this month.

The island's Civil Guard recovered the corpses, which are believed to be migrants who died while trying to reach the Spanish coast via a dangerous crossing from Algeria.

However, the shackled condition of the bodies has led police to launch an investigation into the circumstances of the death - with Balearic authorities maintaining total secrecy around the status of their enquiries.
