Ella Purnell's brutal Arcane confession as final season to 'go out with a bang'

Ella Purnell has swiftly become a household name over the past few years with iconic leading roles in Fallout, Sweetpea and Netlix's League of Legends adaptation Arcane which is set to see its final season this month.

Lending her voice to the beloved psychopath Jinx, Ella reflected on her 6-year-long journey with the demented character at MCM Comic Con in London, saying: "I'm going to miss Jinx, I've seen season 2 and it's so good!"

While she isn't quite ready to say goodbye to Jinx and the incredible Arcane show just yet, she's glad the short-lived series is coming to an end: "I'd much rather them end when it's time than make another season and disappoint fans."

The video game adaptation has made a major impact online after the first season grew to worldwide popularity during lockdown, with many people touting Jinx as their favourite character but Ella isn't too happy about this.

She admitted: "I don't know why people react so strongly to Jinx, I wish there was less trauma in the world so people wouldn't see so much of themselves in Jinx."

Describing the character as "complex and disturbed", Ella admitted she's accidentally found herself playing a similar type of role as Rhiannon Lewis in her new Sky Atlantic series Sweetpea.

When asked which of her iconic characters might get along, she joked: "I feel like Rhiannon and Jinx would be a terrifying combination.

"They could be friends or they could kill each other, they're both slightly unpredictable."

Ella joined Sweetpea as a producer as well as an actress and has been open about the mental health challenges the show presented due to its heavy content as it follows Rhiannon's journey to becoming a serial killer.

While Jinx has a similar arch into psychosis and murder sprees, Ella revealed it wasn't quite as intense as playing Rhiannon: "It's different for voice acting. Live action, you're fully immersed in the character, voice over I'm usually in my pyjamas in a dark booth on my own. The emotion just doesn't hit me the same way sometimes."

The first 3 episodes of Arcane season 2 premiered on Netflix on November 9th.
