In a shocking turn of events, Ruby Fox-Miligan (played by Beth Cordingly) has decided to part ways with her long-standing husband Caleb (William Ash), following the revelation of his appalling betrayal.
Caleb, a scheming businessman, had been harbouring a dreadful secret from his wife.
Last month, when Ruby's estranged mother Helen Fox (Sharon Maughan) attempted to reach out to her, Caleb stepped in and visited Helen, who disclosed that she was terminally ill and wished to reconcile with Ruby.
Caleb demanded a hefty sum of £100k from Helen if she truly desired to see Ruby. The hospital summoned Ruby to visit her ailing mother, but upon her arrival, she was informed that Helen had passed away just 20 minutes prior.
Ruby was left devastated, having missed the chance to mend fences with her estranged mother before her demise.
Fast forward to Wednesday's episode (October 16), Ruby had a conversation about death with Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter), who is mourning the loss of iconic character Zak (Steve Halliwell), reports .
Chas advised Ruby to visit the hospital and inquire if her mother had mentioned her before passing away.
Upon reaching the hospital, Ruby spoke with the nurse who was present during Helen's final moments and confirmed that they had indeed discussed Ruby.
The nurse nonchalantly revealed that Caleb had visited Helen on the ward mere hours before her death. This revelation broke Ruby's heart, and when she confronted Caleb at home about Helen's death, he seemed evasive.
Ruby's explosive showdown with Caleb left viewers on the edge of their seats when she realised he'd met with Helen and kept her from seeing her dying mother.
As tempers flared, Ruby ordered him out of their home, shouting, "Get out, you have lied to me for the last time Caleb I am done with you for good this time", signifying the end of their union.
She punctuated the confrontation with a terse "Just go", watching as a hesitant Caleb exited the house and left Ruby shattered.
Audiences are left wondering whether this spells the end for Ruby and Caleb's tumultuous relationship or if there's a path to forgiveness after being robbed of a final farewell with her mother.
