A fresh duo on Gogglebox has set tongues wagging amongst viewers after they discovered the pair are actually husband and wife.
The cherished Channel 4 programme made its comeback on Friday evening (September 5) with a sparkling new instalment, launching its 26th series.
Well-known personalities such as siblings Ellie and Izzi alongside best friends Jenny and Lee have all returned to offer their observations on the newest television offerings. Nevertheless, the programme has also welcomed five completely new households.
The fresh couples feature Sara from Yorkshire alongside her daughter-in-law Lara, Scottish companions Jake and Calum, plus parents Andre and Sarah with their daughter Chee from Surrey, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Audiences were also acquainted with wedded pair Andrew and Alfie hailing from the Cotswolds. Yet it's reasonable to suggest fans were utterly stunned upon discovering the duo were actually married.
Taking to X regarding 62 year old Andrew and 32 year old Alfie, one viewer commented: "That Cotswold couple look like father and son."
Another contributor remarked: "Looks like the father and son are playing to the cameras with the son always having an annoying grin every time he says something." A third then highlighted: "They're married!". Mirroring these sentiments, another wrote: "Didn't know that Andrew and Alfie were married."
A fifth also commented: "At first I thought they were father and son. Now I'm just jealous of the new couple on #gogglebox as I, too, would like an older husband with a house in the Cotswolds." A sixth then wrote: "44 minutes into the programme and find out they are both married to each other. I thought it was father and son."
Meanwhile other fans were left disappointed not to see Scottish duo Roisin Kelly and Joe Kyle return to their screens. Earlier this year, the pair revealed Channel 4 didn't invite them back.
The couple made Gogglebox history as the first Scottish pair to feature on the programme in February 2022.
Confirming their exit from the Channel 4 show, Roisin took to TikTok to share the disappointing news, writing: "After three and a half years of sitting on the sofa channel 4 have decided it's time for Joe and I to stretch our legs and have not asked us back for season 26."
Gogglebox series 26 airs on Friday at 9pm on Channel 4.
