Renowned TV chef James Martin was back in the kitchen for another episode of Saturday Morning where he shared some very handy tips on cooking the perfect egg, and storing them.

For James' latest instalment of the ITV show (17th May), he was joined by Charley Boorman from Long Way Home, while also enjoying a feast of delicious recipes from chefs Asma Khan, Ronnie Murray, and Mike Reid.

During one segment, the 52-year-old explained how to cook eggs in various ways, including an omelette, fried eggs in butter, and scrambled.

While cooking, he shared a valuable trick for getting the yolk to separate from the egg white before cooking it.

James picked up a couple of eggs and began to shake them for a few seconds, before explaining why this helps make the perfect egg. He said: "I'm going to take our eggs, and all I'm going to do is shake them."

James added: "My mum thaugt me this little trick, shake the eggs and what usually happens is, well one out of three, it helps the yolk go into the middle of the egg but the whites are seperated.

"You got two parts of the whites, when I fry the egg you will see it.

"When you put it in the pan and it cooks, you will see separation in the egg whites. When the egg white is old, the whites all go into one, and you get this flooded egg."

James also had another tip for egg lovers - do not keep them in the fridge.

"Here you are, loads of ways to cook an egg. Now you know how to store it, don't store it in the fridge, keep it outside like that."

He added: "There are tons of varieties, when you find one that you love - stick by it."
