A kind decision made by Princess Kate brings another dimension to the Princess of Wales's role as a doting aunt and wonderful family member.

Princess Kate's brother, James Middleton, has revealed how his older sister has lent some of her children's old baby clothes to her nephew, Inigo.

Thanks to hand-me-downs from both Kate and their sister, Pippa Middleton, who shares three children with her husband, James Matthews, they have both sweetly loaned clothing items to James and his family.

Speaking to Hello! Magazine James confessed each item has a memory: "They are milestones, because [my sisters] remember when their child was wearing something, and how old they were - it takes them back. It's been a lovely thing for them."

James Middleton shares a son with his wife, Ailzee, and explains how he is grateful that his young baby, who turns one next month, is growing up as part of a larger family.

He said: "He's fortunate to have older cousins who can now pick him up and show him things, and as he grows up, they'll be able to look out for him. There's definitely an element of curiosity [about] a baby that they have."

As the mother of three children, Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six, Kate has often been praised for her impeccable sense of style over the years. However, beyond the elegance, her approach to reusing clothes and passing them down speaks to her practical mindset about sustainable fashion.

James says while his wife discovered she was pregnant, he had an idea to write a book. The pregnancy news came just weeks after their dog Ella died aged 15 and mourning her loss, James wanted a way to share his memories with his son.

In James's book titled 'Meet Ella: The Dog who Saved my Life', which is out for release on September 26, James details his suffering from clinical depression and feeling suicidal and was held back from the brink of despair by his loyal companion.

In the days before contemplating suicide, Mr Middleton said that he totally isolated himself from others. "I hide behind a double-locked door, unreachable", he said.

Elsewhere in his book, although he has been married for three years, he details when Princess Kate, Prince William and their three children first met his wife for the first time, in a heartfelt anecdote.

James explains that he and Alizee had been to a wedding close to the Middleton family home in Berkshire and decided to stay there for the night.

However, when they woke up in the morning, James heard children giggling and soon discovered that William, Kate and their children had also stayed over.

James also wrote how there was no awkwardness and that after introducing his girlfriend to the family, which included questions from George and Charlotte, and also felt as if they had all known each other for years.

James penned: "I tell Charlotte and George, yes, she is my girlfriend and introduce her to them, then we are all talking and laughing as if she has been part of the family for years."
