Outlander's leading man Sam Heughan has candidly spoken about the show nearing its conclusion, confessing that the team were "ready to move on".
Gracing San Diego Comic Con on Saturday, July 26, the Scottish actor offered fans a glimpse into the final chapter of the beloved series and the forthcoming prequel, Outlander: Blood of My Blood, which will introduce fresh faces.
Heughan didn't shy away from imparting some cautionary guidance and a quartet of tips for the incoming Blood of My Blood ensemble but also paused to ponder over his own departure alongside fellow cast members from their cherished saga.
Addressing the media, Heughan acknowledged the bittersweet emotions tied to the series' culmination but underscored the readiness among the Outlander cast to turn the page.
"I think we're ready to move on. It's a long time...I think it's good for change, and it's good for people to mix things up," he shared with The Irish Star.
The actor lauded the growth within the crew, noting how rewarding it was to witness their progression into new roles.
Reflecting on a poignant instance when he revisited the studio after an absence, Heughan admitted to being struck by a sense of melancholy.
"I know exactly what they're doing and who's there and where they leave," he remarked. "And it was quite sad to think, 'Oh, everyone. Everyone's there, but for me.'"

The cast of Blood of My Blood were engrossed in creating their own show, set to debut on STARZ on 8 August.
While the original series centred around the romance between Claire (Catriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan), the new programme will delve into the lives of both their parents - Jamie's in 18th-century Scotland and Claire's in World War I-torn England.
Jamie's parents, Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser, will be brought to life by Harriet Slater and Jamie Roy.

Claire's parents, Julia Moriston and Henry Beauchamp, will be portrayed by Hermione Corfield and Jeremy Irvine.
In contrast to the original series, which faithfully follows Diana Gabaldon's novels, the new show draws from material penned for the first of three prequel books, which are currently under development.
Outlander season 7 is streaming on MGM+ via Prime Video now. Outlander: Blood of My Blood premieres on Starz on August 8 and on Prime Video via MGM+ on August 9
