Rocker Ozzy Osbourne died surrounded by his family aged 76 on July 22, at his home in Buckinghamshire, England. He had a number of health issues before his death, with his death certificate, which had been signed by his daughter Aimee Osbourne, confirming that they had an impact on his demise.
The certificate highlighted the serious health challenges Osbourne faced in his last years, compounded by a diagnosis of Parkinson's in 2003, which he publicly disclosed only in 2020. It stated that his death was due to "(a) Acute myocardial infarction (b) Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (c) Coronary artery disease and Parkinson's disease with autonomic dysfunction (Joint Causes)." The document also described his occupation as a "rock legend, songwriter and performer". It was previously reported that paramedics spent hours trying to resuscitate Ozzy after arriving at his home address in an air ambulance. Sadly, the medical professionals were unable to revive the star.
The chopper took off from RAF Benson in Oxfordshire, close to Ozzy's home, which is located in Chalfont St Giles. It's believed that the medics were in the air for just 15 minutes before they reached Ozzy, and spent around two hours attempting to save his life.
His family issued a statement confirming the sad news of his death. It read: "It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning.
"He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family's privacy at this time." The touching words were signed off by his wife, Sharon, and children, Aimee, Kelly, Jack, and Louis.
This evening, the BBC will pay tribute to the Prince of Darkness in a brand new documentary - Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home. The intimate film, shot over three years, follows the final chapter of Ozzy's life with appearances from his wife Sharon and their children Kelly and Jack, as well as their close friends.
In it, Ozzy and Sharon face a monumental battle. As well as a diagnosis of Parkinson's, Ozzy has had a succession of back surgeries following a fall, which have left him in extreme pain, frequently struggling to walk.
After 25 years living in LA, he and Sharon decide the time has come to return home to the English country house in Buckinghamshire where they once brought up their family. But before he retires completely, he's also determined to perform one last time for his army of fans.
