A new Channel 5 documentary has claimed that Prince Andrew once referred to a staff member as a "fat, lardy a***hole". Paul Page, who served at Buckingham Palace between 1998 and 2004, made the latest claim in tonight's televised documentary titled 'Prince Andrew: On Trail'.
According to Paul, Andrew - who, according to a rolling YouGov popularity survey, is the least popular member of the Royal Family - would often "lose his temper". He claimed: "Prince Andrew would often lose his temper over very small things. His attitude was such that he would look down on all members of staff. Not just maids or police but his own private secretaries." The former policemen claimed that on one occasion a worker was at the brunt of one of Andrew's outbursts, where he referred to her in a very "rude" manner.
Recalling his account of the incident, Paul said: "On this occasion a female turned up and we said: 'We're really sorry but we just need to get confirmation that someone's going to come and meet you or that you are expected'.
"And so she offered to phone Prince Andrew on her mobile which she did.
"She put it [the call] on loud speaker so we could hear him and he said, 'Put the officer on the phone' and so it was handed over to my colleague and he said, 'Listen to me you fat lardy a***hole, they're not going to come down here'."
Paul then added: "He was the most unpopular royal in the Palace."
During previous interviews, Paul has accused the royal of instructing police officers to 'f*** off' following an incident where he sparked a security scare outside the late Queen's bedroom at Buckingham Palace.
As well as alleging that this behaviour was typical of Andrew, Paul then referred to him as a "f***ing a**hole', 'rude' and a 'bully'.
He has since referred to Andrew, 65, as a "rude and obnoxious and self-entitled individual".
The Express has contacted Buckingham Palace for comment.
