The UK is set for further hot weather with temperatures expected to once again exceed the 30C mark. The latest weather maps from WX Charts turn volcanic red with the mercury forecast to reach 34C in some areas.
The warm conditions are forecast across southern areas of England on Wednesday, July 16. The maps show temperatures hitting 34C in Bristol and North Somerset at around 6pm. Meanwhile, the mercury will be at 33C in Gloucester and 32C in Oxford at the same time.
Some areas of England will also see temperatures of 30C and higher earlier in the day. The maps show 32C heat hitting Bristol and Bath at 12pm while it will also be 31C in Gloucestershire and 30C in the Midlands.
Conditions will be warm elsewhere across England on July 16 with temperatures set to approach 30C in London and the east of the nation. Further north, the mercury could hit 31C in Leeds.
According to the Met Office long-range forecast for the UK, which runs from Wednesday, July 16 until Wednesday, July 30, temperatures are "likely to be above average" during this period. The forecaster said the south of England has the "greatest chance of very warm or hot spells".
However, there is the possibility of "thundery outbreaks". The Met Office said: "Changeable conditions with a predominantly northwest to southeast split in temperature and rainfall, and the potential for further occasional episodes of hot weather and thundery outbreaks."
It comes after the UK has baked in hot weather over recent days. The temperature hit 32C in London yesterday (Tuesday, July 1) and 30C elsewhere across the nation.
A mixed morning, with sunny spells and showery rain. The rain could be heavy in the east, with perhaps the odd thundery downpour. Tending to become drier and sunnier later in the afternoon and into the evening. Fresher for many.
Tonight:A fine evening with spells of sunshine ahead of dusk. Dry for England and Wales overnight, with clear skies. Cloudier for Northern Ireland and Scotland, with showers spreading eastwards. Cooler.
Thursday:A north-south split in the weather. Rather cool with sunshine and frequent blustery showers across the north. Mostly dry with warm spells of sunshine in the south.
Outlook for Friday to Sunday:Brisk winds and rain in the north Friday. Dry and sunny in the south. An unsettled weekend for most, with blustery showers. Cool in the northwest, warmer in the southeast.
