
A British mystery series that has been labelled "wonderful" by some viewers has landed on Netflix. The streaming platform has added a slew of new titles over the past few weeks, with some major shows and movies catching the attention of subscribers. However, other new additions have gone largely overlooked, including one British series that many fans have hailed for its intriguing storyline and comedy.
The Madame Blanc Mysteries, which stars Sally Lindsay, was added to Netflix UK on June 25. While many people haven't seen this show, it has been praised for its great performances and plot. The series follows antique dealer Jean White finds her life turned upside down when she learns her husband, Rory, has died on his way home from the south of France. Trouble ensues when she discovers that all of their money has disappeared, their shop has been remortgaged, and their assets have been pawned off.
The Madame Blanc Mysteries originally aired on Channel 5 in 2021 and proved to be a hit with many, with three more seasons being produced since.
The crime comedy drama is set in the fictional village of Sainte Victoire in the south of France, inspired by the real French village of Vauvenargues. Also in the cast is Robin Askwith, Steve Edge and Sue Vincent.
The series sees Lindsay's character travel back to France to unravel the mystery surrounding her husband's death and search for the identity of the woman he was having an affair with. Fans praise this show for having a different mystery for every episode as well as an overarching storyline that keeps them invested.
While it received mixed reviews, some viewers adore this show. One Rotten Tomatoes user said: "I love Madame Blanc! While the stories on the lighter side of my favorite British mysteries, the cast is wonderful and the scenery fantastic!"
Another wrote: "Love this show for several reasons: the characters are refreshingly different, quirky, and lovable; the setting is beautiful and is a character of the series in itself; and the writing /plots are also quirkily fresh. Hope to see it go on for a long time."
A third shared: "Such a cute show, easy to watch, and we really enjoy the characters."
All four seasons of the show are now available on Netflix. It is among the many new titles added on June 25 which also includes The Ultimatum: Queer Love, Wallace & Gromit: Vengence Most Fowl, and Try? Choory.
