Bengaluru: A dramatic car crash on the Mysuru Expressway, amid heavy rain, left two children injured in a head-on collision on Sunday. The incident occurred when poor visibility and slippery conditions caused by incessant showers contributed to the crash.

According to a viral post shared on social media platform X , a Volkswagen Polo jumped the median and collided head-on with a Tata Nexon, which had two children seated on the laps of the driver and front passenger. The children were injured by the deployment of the airbags and were seen bleeding in a video shared by an X handle, identified as DriveSmart. The post accompanying the video read, "A VW Polo jumped the median and hit a Nexon head-on on the Mysuru Expressway. Nexon had kids seated in the front seat, and they’re bleeding from airbag deployment." An Eyewitness's Account -An eyewitness who narrowly avoided the crash also shared their account of the incident. The eyewitness was traveling from Kushalnagar to Bengaluru on October 13, 2024, and had stopped for 30 minutes due to heavy rainfall and poor visibility. The eyewitness's post described how, while passing a truck in the middle lane, a car from the opposite side lost control, appeared to flip in mid-air, and landed about 10 feet away in the leftmost lane, where it collided with the Tata Nexon. "I literally froze for a second," the eyewitness wrote. "By the time I could react, the car had flipped and landed on the leftmost lane before rolling over again and crashing into the Nexon,'' the post read. The post speculated that the driver of the Polo lost control after hitting a puddle at high speed, which caused the car to strike the divider and launch into the air. The most concerning part of the incident, according to the eyewitness, was that two children, believed to be infants, were seated on laps in the front of the Nexon. Due to airbag deployment, one child was bleeding, and the other also appeared to be in distress.
