Everett Double Shooting: 1 Dead, Traffic On i5

On Sunday afternoon, the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 in Everett were closed due to a police chase of a suspect who was firing. At 3:15 pm, according to the Everett Police Department, all lanes were reopened. The suspect is reportedly wanted in relation to a double shooting that happened on Casino Road, according to KIRO7 News. Despite reports that they were in negotiations with a murder suspect, police maintain that the public is not in danger. The Everett Police Department reports that a man and a woman were shot and killed by the suspect. The woman was hurt and the male was killed in the incident.The man was pursued by police onto I-5 in the southbound lanes. On the interstate, the suspect's car came to a halt, and according to KIRO7, the suspect was talking with the authorities. For a while, the northbound lanes were also closed. About 2:15 pm, the lanes were once again available. Cameras from the Washington State Department of Transportation saw motorists trying to do U-turns to get off the road while stranded in the southbound lanes during the closure.Following a brief chase, the guy wrecked on I-5 close to Highway 526, according to the police. Officers claimed to have heard gunfire coming from the man's automobile shortly after. The man was dead when they got close to him. No bullets were fired by cops, according to the police. I-5 was originally stopped in both directions due to the event, however shortly after the collision, the southbound lanes were restored again. The traffic was backed up for kilometers going north. The two northbound lanes reopened just after 4 p.m.
