Mumbai Indians have managed to retain the core part of their squad as Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav will be seen donning the blue jersey in IPL 2025. Apart from these four Tilak Varma has also been retained by the five time IPL champions. Mumbai opted to reserve the top slot for Bumrah as the Indian faster bowler will be paid a whopping Rs 18 crore for the upcoming season. Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya will receive Rs 16.35 crore each while Rohit will take home Rs 16.30 crore. Tilak Varma has been retained for Rs 8 crore. Bumrah has now become the most expensive player ever in the history of Mumbai Indians. Cameron Green held the record as he was previously paid a whopping 17.50 crore by MI. Bumrah has been with Mumbai since 2013 and he has been one of the best bowlers across all the formats. The 30 year old was a rare shining light in IPL 2024 what otherwise was a disastrous season for the IPL giants. Mumbai now have 45 crore left in their purse and they will have a tough task to cut out as they will have to build a strong squad keeping in mind the upcoming IPL campaigns. Mumbai Indians owner Akash Ambani said, “We are thrilled that the strong legacy of MI will be carried forward by Jasprit, Surya, Hardik, Rohit and Tilak – players who have become synonymous with our team and the brand of cricket we stand for. In the past month, the MI core group, along with our coaching staff, have come together and worked closely to establish a shared vision for MI. This unified effort reinstates MI’s commitment to building strong trust and ownership amongst our core group, our fans and other stakeholders. We will strive to continue playing the passionate brand of cricket everyone expects from us."
