PM Modi Announces USD 500,000 Quad Fellowships for Indo-Pacific Students To Come Study in India

With an aim to enable students pursue a four-year undergraduate engineering programme at a Government of India-funded technical institution, India has announced a new initiative. The country will award fifty Quad fellowship, worth USD 500,000, to students from Indo-Pacific. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced this at the Quad Summit.The Quad Leaders' Summit was hosted by President Joe Biden on September 22 in his hometown Wilmington, Delaware. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Japan's Prime Minister Fumio Kishida marked their presence. The Quad leaders said that they recommit to working in partnership with Pacific island countries to achieve shared aspirations and address shared challenges."India is pleased to announce a new initiative to award fifty Quad fellowships, worth USD 500,000, to students from the Indo-Pacific to pursue a 4-year undergraduate engineering programme at a Government of India-funded technical institution," the declaration read. The declaration highlights that Quad is committed to strengthening the deep and enduring ties between our people, and among our partners. It mentions that through the Quad Fellowship, the aim is to build a network of the next generation of science, technology, and policy leaders."The Government of Japan is supporting the program to enable Quad Fellows to study in Japan. The Quad welcomes the generous support of private sector partners for the next cohort of fellows, including Google, the Pratt Foundation, and Western Digital," the declaration further said.

QUAD leaders summit 2025 in IndiaUS Ambassador to India, Eric Garcetti, said that he is thrilled to see the QUAD (Quadrilateral Security Dialogue) countries coming together to announce new initiatives, adding that he is looking forward to the QUAD Leaders Summit in India, taking place in 2025. One must know that Quad is a diplomatic partnership between four countries-Australia, India, Japan, and the United States.
