A disturbing video from an Arizona jail shows a male inmate crawling past a security guard to reach the female wing, in order to "rape" an inmate there. Justin Avery, 29, who was imprisoned on charges of raping five women, later admitted that he had planned to sexually assault a woman inmate. The incident happened in April this year. However, the video has surfaced only now.
The footage, which is going viral on social media, showed Avery crawling past a guard at 4 am. Avery later admitted to sneaking over "like a spider" to rape a woman inmate saying he was was attracted to her, court documents revealed. Avery was caught just as he snuck behind the woman inmate, who was sleeping, as another woman noticed him and screamed. "Hey, get off of her," the woman yelled, video footage accessed by ABC15 shows.Even though Avery tried to quieten the witness, the security guard had been alerted by then. Calling for backup, the guard took Avery into custody. Avery was later charged with an additional count of sexual assault.'We're appalled'The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office told AZFamily, "We're appalled by inmate Avery's actions. This was a unique incident and the first of its kind in four years, since the [Intake Transfer and Release] facility was open.""We acted immediately, adding mirrors for better monitoring in the blind spots that were identified. In addition, a review of our current procedures was completed to ensure best practices are being implemented," it added.
